Statue of the famous V-J Day Kiss made a brief stop at Visalia today as part of keep the spirit of ' 45 Alive project.

The statue was scheduled to travel on World War II mural at South Mooney Boulevard during the day, said Bob McNabb Veterans Committee Visalia.

As Japan surrendered, the kiss between nurses and sailors on August 14, 1945 in Times Square in New York City is enshrined in the photographs by the late Alfred Eisenstaedt. Black and white icons come to represent the end of World War II.

Nurses, Edith Shain, 91, visit Visalia in February 2010. He died in June 2010. A sailor in the photograph was ever identified.

Travel sculpture 6-foot-high statue is a replica as high as 25 feet by Seward Johnson displayed in front of the USS Midway in San Diego.
